RAMS software helps organise risk assessments and method statements. Before choosing a system, test it with a realistic job and the people who will prepare, check and use the record. A polished sample document is only one part of that decision.
Eight questions to take into a RAMS software demo
- Can we describe the actual job? Try a specific location, activity and work sequence. Check whether the system captures relevant site information rather than relying on a generic trade label.
- What happens when information is missing? Leave a significant detail unresolved. Ask how the draft shows uncertainty and who must resolve it before issue.
- How do hazards connect to the method? Follow one identified concern through the proposed controls and work sequence. Can a reviewer understand how the plan addresses it?
- Who reviews and issues the document? Ask the provider to demonstrate draft, review, revision and issue arrangements. Check these against your organisation's responsibilities.
- Can people identify the current revision? Change the task after an initial review. Ask what happens to the earlier copy and how affected people find the replacement.
- Can we use the record where work happens? Test an export on a phone and printed page. If offline access matters, ask the provider to demonstrate it rather than assuming it is included.
- Can we retrieve our information? Ask about export formats, access permissions, retention, cancellation and how your records are returned if you leave.
- What are we actually buying? Confirm users, support, setup, limits, total costs and product availability in writing before deciding.
A short demo scenario that reveals the workflow
Record what you saw, not just a feature tick
| Check | Evidence to capture | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Missing information | How an unanswered task question appears in the draft | Who resolves it before issue? |
| Revision handling | How the current copy is identified after an edit | What happens to previous exports? |
| Review responsibility | How a review decision is recorded | Does it match your approval process? |
| Exit and export | A readable sample export and stated retention terms | Can the team retrieve its records? |
RAMS, CDM records and point-of-work checks serve different needs
If your main problem is preparing the planned assessment and method, start with RAMS. If it is keeping project information and supporting evidence together, explore CDMlogic. If it is recording what has changed where a task is about to happen, explore POWRAlogic. Our RAMS vs POWRA guide explains the distinction.
Where RAMSlogic is today
RAMSlogic is in advanced development and progressing through release assurance. Public self-service access and a release date have not been announced. You can discuss your workflow with Lloyd; this is a development enquiry, not a booking for an available RAMS pilot.
CDMlogic and POWRAlogic are the current free-pilot focus: two months for up to five customer organisations helping shape the tools, with preferential rates if participants continue. Scope, access and future rates are agreed with Lloyd.
Source and scope
This is The Logic Suite's buyer checklist, not an HSE software specification or endorsement. HSE's construction administration guidance explains the role of method statements in communicating work arrangements. Software output still needs review against the actual task and your organisation's arrangements.
